Lifeguard Instructor Course
(LGI) Minimum age 17
Participants will learn to teach the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course and its accompanying components. Once certified, you will be able to not only teach classes, but to also carry out a plan for in-service at your Aquatic Site. This class trains lifeguarding instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. There is an addition fee of $35.00 paid to the American Red Cross. Once registered with the South Windsor Rec. the instructor will send a web link directly to the participant in order to begin their online course work (There is approximately 3 hours of online learning that must be completed prior to the first class ) and register with the American Red Cross ($35.00 fee).
- Must be at least 17 years of age & pass a pre-course skills test
- Hold current Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid,
and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- Complete the Online Lifeguard Instructor course, including the Pre-course Exam, before the first class
Certification: Lifeguard Instructor: Valid for 2 years, must teach and take an in-person review within those 2 years to keep certification
