Aerobics with Strength Training
Your body naturally loses muscle strength and muscle mass as you age. You can reduce this trend by adding strength-training exercise to your personal fitness program. Resistance enhances health by improving your strength, stimulating muscle growth, helping to maintain a higher metabolic rate therefore burning more calories, helping you to control your weight. It strengthens your core muscles, ligaments, and bones decreasing injury risk and helps to prevent osteoporosis. You will improve your posture and reduce back pain while it enhances your overall tone and shape. Each class will included the entire aerobic program with an additional 15 minute focus on increasing strength and endurance through slow and controlled movements. Students are asked to provide a set of hand-held weights between 1-5 pounds.

Yoga
Yoga teaches you how to stretch! The deep stretching you learn in this yoga class will release excess muscle tensions that create chronic soreness and stiffness. Plus if you keep practicing, before long you will also discover that youre getting physically stronger, especially those parts of your body that have been chronically weak. Youll also learn how to breathe deeply. Deep breathing is one of the most simple ways to improve your over-all health. Youll notice a difference in just a few weeks. In addition, this yoga class will teach you how to relax. Relaxation will free your mind of its chronic tension and dramatically lower your stress levels. Because the benefits of yoga accumulate over time, we offer a deep discount for students committing to 2 consecutive 7-week sessions. No prior yoga experience is necessary. This is a basic yoga class and is appropriate for all levels of fitness. Yoga mat suggested. The class is taught by experienced Kripalu Certified yoga teachers.
