Family Awareness Day, Fall Family Fun!
Join us for this free event on Saturday, October 25th, at the South Windsor Community Center! A fun-filled day of activities that the whole family can enjoy! Sponsored by the South Windsor Youth Advisory Board, Youth and Family Services, Recreation Department, Police Department, and the South Windsor Schools.
Road Race Registration - 8:00am - 8:45am
One Mile Fun Run - 9:00am
Hog Jog, 5K Road Race - 9:30am
Family Awareness Day Activities - 11:00am - 2:00pm
Lunch 11:00am 1:00pm
Indoor activities include tattoos and hair wrapping, a haunted house, Shriner’s clowns, games, free give-aways, food, raffle, and more! Outdoor fun includes hayrides, pony rides, inflatables, Fire Department and Ambulance Corps displays, Animal Control display, and free car seat checks courtesy of the Police Department.
Family Skate Nights! New!
Join us for a night of family fun, ice skating at South Windsor Arena. On the designated evenings South Windsor residents will receive a discounted admission cost. This is a great family event in the winter months, whether you are an avid ice skater or just a beginner. Full service restaurant on site for hot chocolate or pizza.

Home for the Holidays 
All town residents and businesses are eligible to enter the Annual Decorating Contest! Judging will be done from the roadside on Tuesday, December 16, from 6:00pm-9:00pm. To enter, you must pre-register through the Recreation Department in person or by calling 648-6355, by Friday, December 12, 2008. A free VMP household swim pass for the 2009 season will be awarded to top contestants in each of the residential categories. Winners in the commercial category will receive plaques! Stayed tuned for more details in the newspapers and school flyers in early November.
Winter Wonderland 
Sponsored by Karen O’Conner, Realtor. Get into the holiday spirit by joining the South Windsor Recreation Department on Saturday, December 6, 2008 for a day of crafts, games and breakfast. Elves from the Recreation Department will help your child make holiday crafts and participate in fun activities! Bring a camera and take pictures with Santa and the Holiday Bear. You must pre-register at the South Windsor Recreation Register early, Space is limited! Adults are free!

Track Attack New! 
The South Windsor Recreation Department is hosting a track meet for children in grades K-5. Children will be competing in the following categories. Kindergarten and grade 1 will complete 1 lap, grades 2 and 3 will complete 2 laps and grades 4 and 5 will complete 3 laps. Prizes and refreshments will be provided! Pre-register by Thursday, September 18.
