Learn to Skate Vacation Camp New!
Learn to Skate is a beginning ice skating program that is challenging and rewarding—but most of all, fun. Participation in the program will enable beginning skaters of all ages and abilities to learn the fundamentals of ice skating while teaching them the necessary skills that are used for their further skating advancement. Play-Well Engineering FUNdamentals with LEGOs™
Design and build motorized machines, catapults, pyramids, demolition derby cars, truss and suspension bridges, buildings, and other constructions. Explore concepts in physics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, and architecture while playing with your favorite creations. This is a hands-on and minds-on class suitable for LEGO building system novices to “maniacs.” Returning students will work on new projects and challenges. The February and April camps will have different projects.

Operated by All Pro Sports the WWWBC is a great opportunity for children in grades 5-8 to spend a week playing the ultimate backyard game with their peers. The camp offers children the chance to learn the skills of wiffle ball and or share their own skills with their friends. Players will learn the four basic pitches of wiffle ball (curve, slider, riser & sinker), they will also practice batting both lefty & righty and most importantly they will break into teams and play tournament games. The Timothy Edwards Gymnasium will be turned into a fantasy Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium as you play out your own "Game 7" scenario. Bring a bag lunch and water bottle.

This co-ed program’s emphasis is on “doing one’s best” with the accent on self-defense. Participants will learn counter measures against aggression, fight prevention and bully management. Ski/Snowboard at Berkshire East
Enjoy five weeks of night time skiing or snowboarding at Berkshire East Ski Resort. Berkshire East is 1,180 vertical feet with 45 trails and 5 lifts with night skiing for all ability levels. The bus leaves the Community Center at 4pm and returns by 11:00 pm. Lessons are not mandatory but are available for the beginner-to-advanced skier/snowboarder. Participants may rent equipment. Base fee includes, supervision, transportation and three-four hours of skiing/snowboarding. Registration ends Friday, December 17, 2009.

NFL Punt, Pass & Kick
The South Windsor Recreation Department is hosting a NFL Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8-15. The Punt, Pass & Kick is a national skills competition where youth compete separately against their peers. Girls and boys in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum. All participants must pre-register and fill out the waiver form by Thursday, September 10th.

Youth Wrestling Program
Participants will learn the basic wrestling skills with an emphasis on proper body mechanics, movement skills and proper techniques. Wear t-shirts, shorts, or sweat pants and sneakers to class (no long sleeves). A mandatory meeting for parents will be held on Tuesday, November 17th, at 6:30pm at the South Windsor Community Center Room 207 to discuss the program and to complete necessary forms. South Windsor Recreation Department in cooperation with “Performing Arts Programs” will be offering a professional, progressive drama program designed for participants of all skill levels. The instructors are dedicated to creating a fun, comfortable, affirming environment to cultivate each individual’s own unique creativity. “Performing Arts Programs” has over 30 years of professional vocal/theatrical experience and runs programs throughout CT as well as Times Square, NYC. If you want to grow as a performer these classes are for you!

Performing Arts Acting Classes
These classes will challenge the less experienced actor as well as offer new and exciting activities for the more experienced participants.
